Performance Evaluation of AODV Protocol Using Random Waypoint Mobility Model

چکیده
Abstract Mobile ad hoc network is a kind of dynamic network. In this network the mobile nodes dynamically form a temporary network without any centralized administration or the use of any existing network infrastructure. A number of routing protocols like Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector Routing (AODV), Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) and Destination-Sequenced Distance-Vector (DSDV) have been proposed. AODV Routing Protocol, which follow on-demand routing approach is an efficient routing protocol designed specifically for use in wireless ad hoc networks of mobile nodes. It offers quick adaptation to changes in topology, less processing and memory issues, low network usage in the ad hoc network. In this paper AODV was studied and its characteristics with respect to the Random Waypoint Mobility Model are analysed based on the packet delivery fraction, routing load, end-to-end delay, PDF, number of packets dropped, throughput and jitter using Network Simulator (NS2) that is employed to run wired and wireless ad hoc simulations. Analyses of the trace files are done in Tracegraph with Matlab.

Ad hoc network is a collection of wireless mobile nodes dynamically forming a temporary network without the aid of any established infrastructure or centralized administration. Routing protocols in mobile ad hoc network helps node to send and receive packets. In this paper our focus is to study Reactive (AODV), Pro active (OLSR), and Hybrid (ZRP) protocols based on random waypoint mobility mode...

To bring VANET into reality, it is crucial to devise routing protocols that can exploit the inherited characteristics of VANET environment to enhance the performance of the running applications. Previous studies have shown that a certain routing protocol behaves differently under different presumed mobility patterns. Bypass-AODV is a new optimization of the AODV routing protocol for mobile ad-h...

Mobile Adhoc Network is a kind of wireless ad hoc network where nodes are connected wirelessly and the network is self configuring. MANET may work in a standalone manner or may be a part of another network. In this paper we have compared Random Walk Mobility Model and Random Waypoint Mobility Model over two reactive routing protocols Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) and Adhoc On-Demand Distance Vec...
متن کاملPerformance Evaluation of MANET Routing Protocols Using Random Waypoint Mobility Model
A Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET) is a self-configuring network of mobile nodes connected by wireless links, to form an arbitrary topology. The nodes are free to move randomly. Thus the network's wireless topology may be unpredictable and may change rapidly .Due to varying mobility characteristics; there is a significant impact on the performance of the routing protocols. There are various Mobili...
